This project involved the construction of a new 15,222 sq. ft. bus maintenance facility building that includes operations offices, training, and break rooms. The adjoining maintenance shop is a pre-engineered metal building enclosing 10,387 sq. ft. with a wood-framed storage mezzanine above storage and office spaces. There is also an attached covered bus wash area that can accommodate two buses at a time. The shop area can accommodate three 40’ buses and one district fleet vehicle for simultaneous maintenance / repair. The shop includes an in-ground lift that adjusts to wheelbase sizes of 8’ through 25’ for buses and a two post lift for district fleet vehicles. The adjoining administrative wing utilizes conventional wood framed construction and is approximately 4,835 sq. ft.

The building site is 8.87 acres, of which approximately 3.5 acres was developed to accommodate 30 parked buses and a bus training area. The original single stall bus and single stall fleet vehicle maintenance shops, and the nine stall covered parking area remain.

This facility serves the North Franklin School District, Kahlotus School District, and Star School District.
