CKJT Architects, a partnership, was formed in 1988.  The name CKJT is representative of the continuing fifty year history of our architectural firm.   The founding firm of Carson & Kesterson, or C & K, was established in Kennewick by Art Carson and J. D. Kesterson in 1957.  Brian L. Johnson joined the firm in 1971 and became a partner in 1987 prior to the retirement of Art Carson.  The firm then evolved to CKJ Architects.   In April 1988, James A. Taylor and his firm, Daystar Group Architects, merged with CKJ and the name CKJT was established.

The firm's continuing success has included work with a wide variety of building types.  These include municipal government buildings, office buildings, K-12 educational facilities, financial institutions, and airport projects.  Our involvement with this wide variety of building types has been both professionally challenging and rewarding.  It has also contributed to our firm's ability to stay current with the constantly changing technological aspects of the design profession and building industry.

Our firm has earned a reputation for providing thorough and responsive design services.  A number of our clients have elected to use the firm on numerous projects, indicating continuing approval of our efforts on their behalf.  A major factor in our success is based on principal involvement.  A principal designs and directs each project in a "hands-on" manner from the conceptual stages through the post construction warranty period.

CKJT works closely with clients to identify and understand their long and short term needs.  Those needs are then transformed into effective building programs in order to produce facilities which are functional, efficient, buildable and aesthetically pleasing.

Our design work emphasizes minimizing maintenance and operational costs, particularly through functional and energy efficient design.  Project cost, a critical constraint for all our clients, is calculated and analyzed starting in the planning stages and monitored through the final design solution to assure compliance with your project budgetary constraints.
